Programme Overview

Our program, Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering, provides the students with the advanced knowledge and skills related to the field of electronics engineering as well as telecommunications. Students will learn about the state of the art technologies, systems and infrastructures as far as telecommunication applications are considered. Our program has been designed in accordance with the present needs of the industry and comprises theoretical as well as practical sessions.

For successful completion of Masters degree in LUC, each candidate should publish minimum of Two research articles in scopus indexed journals, with Lincoln affiliation.

Entry Requirements :

  1. Bachelor [Level 6 Qualification Framework (MOF)] Engineering / Technology Engineering with minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
  2. Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6 MOH) Engineering / Engineering Technology or equivalent but CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field. For international students, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 500 OR score International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 5.0 or equivalent

If students do not meet these criteria, PPT must offer language skills British to ensure student proficiency adequate to meet the needs of the program. This is usually done through the evaluation process.

Note: For candidates with a Bachelor (Level 6 MOH) Science or Technology or equivalent (not Engineering or Engineering Technology) that, prerequisite modules in Engineering and Engineering Technology must be offered to prepare them for further studies.

Bachelor’s holders (Level 6 MOH) with CGPA above 2.0 but less than 2.5 be admitted but have to go through the process rigorous internal assessment.

We offer an in-depth understanding of all the aspects related to telecommunications networks and aim towards the development of the technological skills as well as competitive skills of the students, required for the designing of advanced telecommunication systems and networks. Students will also acquire analytical skills and thus it will prepare the students for a professional career in this field.

Entry Requirements (International)

I am an international student. What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Level 6 MOF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent as approved by the HEP Senate. Those with a CGPA below 2.50 may be accepted with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. International students require a TOEFL score of 500 or an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent.

I am a local student. What are the entry requirements for a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering?

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Level 6 MOF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent as approved by the HEP Senate. Those with a CGPA below 2.50 may be accepted with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.

English Proficiency

Do I need any English proficiency like IELTS/TOEFL for the program?

Yes, you need English proficiency such as IELTS 5.0, TOEFL 500, or Linguaskill 154. Lincoln University also offers an intensive course to help you build the skills needed to pass English proficiency requirements.

Simultaneous Courses

Can I do English Proficiency and major in my course at the same time?

No, you are required to provide English proficiency test result before joining your main course.

Minimum Percentage

What is the minimum percentage required to join the engineering program?

The minimum percentage required to join the engineering program is 75%.

Transition from Bachelor to Master

Can I transit from any recognized Bachelor’s in Engineering to a Master’s program?

Yes, you can transition from any recognized Bachelor’s degree in Engineering to any Master’s program in Engineering, provided you meet the prerequisite subjects required for the specific program.

Standardized Tests

Are there any standardized tests required for entry into the postgraduate program?

Yes, if you do not meet the required CGPA (2.50 out of 4.0) in your Bachelor’s degree, there will be rigorous internal assessments such as interviews and aptitude tests.

Alternative Pathways

Are there alternative pathways if I don’t meet the standard entry qualifications?

Yes, you can pursue a Master’s through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) if you lack formal qualifications, provided you meet the age (35 years) and relevant work experience requirements. Specific qualifications are needed for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees along with passing the APEL assessment.

Age Limit

Is there an age limit for applying to engineering programs?

There is no age limit to study in any engineering program as long as you meet the entry requirements. However, if you apply through APEL, there are specific age requirements: for a Master’s Degree, you must be 30 years old and above.

What documents do I need to submit with my application?

You need to submit an original scanned copy and a certified true copy of your academic transcripts and certificates, along with an English translation if they are in another language.

Program Duration at LUC

What is the program duration at Lincoln University College (LUC)?

At the Faculty of Engineering, the durations are 18 months for a Master’s by coursework and 2 years for a Master’s by research in Engineering. LUC maintains a 99% graduate-on-time rate.

Credit Requirements

What is the minimum credit required?

Students are required to complete a minimum of 40 credit hours to graduate from the master’s program.

Class Size

How many students are in the class?

Classes typically have around 20 students, promoting an interactive and engaging learning environment. The lecturer-to-student ratio is 1:25 to ensure quality education and personalized attention.

Timetable

How do I receive the timetable for this course?

The timetable is usually provided four weeks ahead of the semester’s start. Students can view their timetable through the LLS student portal.
