The Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering Technology (Aircraft Maintenance) program of Lincoln University College, Malaysia (LUC) deals with design, manufacturing, service, and testing of aircraft. The students also learn the techniques of operating an aircraft and rocket. The most important aspects of it are designing, maintenance, manufacturing, services, testing of aircraft like capability, components and various other parts. The various skills that can be gained by the course include Good numerical and mathematical skills, problem-solving skills, eye to details, good interpretation of figures, plans and machines.

Entry Requirements :

  1. Passed Certificate of Education Malaysia (SPM) with at least three credits in three (3) subjects, including Mathematics and one (1) Science / Technical / Vocational subject and graduated from English; or
  2. Graduated Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B in three (3) subjects including Mathematics and one (1) Science/ Technical / Vocational linguistic subject and graduated English; or
  3. Passed O-Level with at least C grade in subjects including Mathematics and one (1) Science / Technical / Vocational linguistic subject and passed English; or
  4. Pass the Vocational and Technical Certificate / Equivalent Certificate (Level 3,MQF) with Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 and one (1) year experience in relevant field or at least one (1) semester reinforcement programme; or
  5. Pass Engineering Certificate / Engineering (level 3 MFQ) with at least CGPA of 2.00; or
  6. Other qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government; or
  7. Accredited Certificate in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technical or Malaysian Skills certificate level.
  8. Recognized related technical / vocational / skills qualification AND an adequate and relevant bridging programme.

English Requirements :
International students must have proof of good proficiency in verbal and written English. For example, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 or its equivalent. If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPS must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can find jobs in the aviation industry, in government as well as private airlines. Along with the aviation industry, these graduates are hired by defense establishments for building and maintenance of defense aircraft.

After completion of this course the students are expected to find jobs and work as:

  • Aircraft production manager

The program aims to provide the students with the skills and knowledge to create and maintain the machines as well as improve the quality of life for those who depend on and use them. Through this program the students will learn how to design, manufacture, maintain, operate and support all varieties of aerospace vehicles. It is a portion of aerospace engineering devoted solely to the mechanics of the flight of crafts operating inside the earth’s atmosphere.

The Diploma In Aeronautical Engineering Technology ( Aircraft Maintenance) is a coursework-based programme. Graduation is awarded upon successful completion of all taught courses, prescribed assessments, final year project and Industrial Training component within the approved study duration.

Industrial Training

Successful completion of Industrial Training, demonstrating the application of theoretical knowledge and professional skills in a real industry environment, including:

• Industrial training report and presentation
• Employer and academic supervisor evaluation

Academic Standing

Students must successfully complete all coursework modules and the research project, with no outstanding assessments, incomplete grades, or failed courses in their academic record at the time of graduation approval.

Final Approval

Endorsement by the School, Academic Committees, and approval by the Lincoln University College Senate

Graduation is awarded only upon successful completion of all prescribed formative and summative assessment components. Students must demonstrate satisfactory attainment of the Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs) in accordance with the approved assessment structure of the DIPLOMA IN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY (AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE) programme.

Credit Transfer

A maximum of 50% of the total credits can be transferred if the diploma is from the same field, provided 80% syllabus mapping, subject mapping, and subject credit mapping, with a minimum grade of C.

Entry Requirements

Yes, for an Engineering degree, you must have grades C (2.0 out of 4.0) in Math and any one science subject like Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.

There is no age limit to study in any engineering program as long as you meet the entry requirements.

Training

Program Duration

At the Faculty of Engineering, the duration is 4 years for a diploma program.

Graduation Requirements

Students are required to complete a minimum of 90 credit hours to graduate from the diploma program.
