Micro-Credential in Internet Protocol Network
Programme Overview
The module’s rationale is to enable the Learner to be able to develop the knowledge of internet protocol network. The protocols and issues of each TCP-IP layer is discussed, consequently making the students to gain an in-depth knowledge on the advanced concepts in protocol design, for inter-networking of heterogeneous computer networks. This course introduces the fundamentals concepts of internet protocol networks. This course addresses the current networking technology and terminology, including the ISO/OSI Network Reference Model, TCP networking model, IP addressing, internet security and other concepts and information relevant to setting up and using TCP/IP-based networks.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course participants should be able to:
- Explain the functionalities and addressing schemes of TCP/IP protocol suite.
- Evaluate the protocols of network, transport and application layers so as to understand the entities involved with the current architecture of Internet.
- Design and allocate addresses for the networks of IPV4 and IPV6 using valid resources.
- Assess the security risks of networks and select an appropriate cryptography technique to minimize the security issues, thereby considering the ethical and professional values.
- Prepare an analysis report on the structure and characteristics of modern data networks by means of a broad literature survey using valid online resources.
- Present effectively on the topics related to Internet protocols and networking.
Course Progression
Credits from this Micro-Credential Programme are transferable to the following full academic programme:
- Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering
Assessments
- Continuous Assessment 60%
- Final Examination 40%
