Micro-Credential in Advanced Steel Structures
Programme Overview
The course offered by Lincoln University College (LUC) is focused on producing highly competitive professionals in the fields of civil engineering capable of taking on challenges. This course is designed for working class adults whose careers and responsibilities go beyond a single functional specialty and require a broad array of specialized knowledge and skills in Civil Engineering. The course would impart and enhance capability and capacity to develop a healthy body and mind to become a disciplined individual, disciplined manager, and disciplined leader. This course will deal with structural steel and its properties, the design of typical steel buildings, and design and performance of steel buildings for earthquake loads
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course participants should be able to:
- Develop knowledge in the field of design of steel frame structures and ductility and stiffness of steel structures.
- Analyze the concept in 2D Analysis of steel building frames and design philosophy concepts to understand the elements in building loading under different aspects.
- Organize a report based on a site visit/industry visit to basic structural configurations and free-standing guyed towers.
- Choose the appropriate digital and numerical tools to analyze & design different types of steel sections.
