Programme Overview

The Master in Construction Management Programme under Faculty of Engineering is designed to give students’ academic and technical skills in broad areas. The programme encompasses a wide range of educational field which helps to be construction experts to bring a project through to successful completion and helps to became specialized in management techniques to manage the planning, design and construction of a project, from management to end (close out). The programme is designed as a trans formative programme, which offers students the education, training,and first-hand experience essential for successful international careers. This enables the programme to meet its broader objectives to touch every aspect of project delivery systems including design-bid-build, design-build, construction management at-risk, and other related areas.

Entry Requirements :

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6 MOH) in the field of Architecture, Engineering, Engineering Technology with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.50 or related to it, as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
  2. Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6 MOH) in the field of Architecture, Engineering, Engineering Technology or related to it, but not meeting CGPA of 2.50 may be admitted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field.
  3. For international students, the scores of Bahasa Inggeris Test as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500 or Bahasa Inggeris Language Testing System (IELTS) 5.0 or equivalent

This course help students to be competent in problem solving with scientific skills in technology of the building industry to assess the consequences of construction management. The job description of a construction manager is varied and may include many different types of work. Key areas of employment include beneficial plan constructor to global society, chief leader to plan and control construction project with effective communication, problem solving expert by using technical and critical thinking skills to solve construction related project management and quantity surveyor problems, infrastructure and construction manager,entrepreneurship skill developer.

The programme of Master in Construction Management will produce Construction Managers who are:

  • Knowledgeable and able to practice global construction theories and concepts competently.
  • Capable of designing construction project professionally by taking into consideration factors like value, ethics and take the responsibility to contribute to the global society
  • Efficient in multilevel communication skills and demonstrate good leadership qualities as well ashaving the ability to work as a team in construction management.
  • Competent in problem solving with scientific skills in technology of the building industry to assess the consequences of construction management.
  • Able to practice effective information management and recognize the need of lifelong learning for developing managerial and entrepreneurship skills in construction management.

The Master In Construction Management is a coursework-based programme. Graduation is awarded upon successful completion of all taught courses, prescribed assessments, and the research project component within the approved study duration.

Research Project Module

Successful completion of the Project, demonstrating the application of data science and analytics techniques to solve a practical, real-world problem, including:

• Project proposal
• Literature / background review
• Data analysis and implementation
• Project report and presentation

Academic Standing

Students must successfully complete all coursework modules and the research project, with no outstanding assessments, incomplete grades, or failed courses in their academic record at the time of graduation approval.

Final Approval

Endorsement by the School, Academic Committees, and approval by the Lincoln University College Senate

Graduation is awarded only upon successful completion of all prescribed formative and summative assessment components. Students must demonstrate satisfactory attainment of the Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs) in accordance with the approved assessment structure of the Master In Construction Management programme.

To be eligible for graduation, a student must successfully complete 12 taught modules and a research project, totaling 42 credits, and achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
