Programme Overview

The Foundation in Science (Open Distance Learning) programme provides a flexible pathway for students to prepare for a science-related degree. This online-based programme equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to transition smoothly into their undergraduate studies.

Students who complete the required courses and assessments can progress directly to their chosen degree programme. The curriculum covers essential subjects while also developing important skills like critical thinking, digital literacy, and communication.

With online classes and interactive learning, this programme allows students to study at their own pace while receiving structured academic support.

a) For students who will continue their studies First Degree Program in Medicine:
i. Possess SPM with a min GRADE B in 5 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subjects as well as a CREDIT in Bahasa Malaysia and English or any other qualification equivalent thereto; or

ii. Possess O level with a min GRADE B in 5 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subjects as well as a CREDIT/ GRADE C in English or any other qualification equivalent; or

iii. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least B4 GRADE in 3 subjects, i.e Biology,Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics ot Additional Mathematics or any other qualification equivalent;

b) For students who will continue their studies First Degree Program in Dentistry:

i. Possess SPM with a min GRADE B in 5 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subjects as well as a CREDIT in Bahasa Malaysia and English or any other qualification equivalent thereto; or

ii. Possess O level with a min GRADE B in 5 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subjects as well as a CREDIT/ GRADE C in English or any other qualification equivalent; or

iii. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least B4 GRADE in 4 subjects, i.e Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics ot Additional Mathematics or any other qualification equivalent;

c) For students who will continue their studies First Degree Program in Pharmacy:

i. Possess SPM with a min GRADE B in 5 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subjects as well as a CREDIT in Bahasa Malaysia and English or any other qualification equivalent thereto; or

ii. Possess O level with a min GRADE B in 5 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subjects as well as a CREDIT/ GRADE C in English or any other qualification equivalent; or

d) For students who will continue their studies to other Sciences field:

i. Possess SPM with at least 5 CREDITS including in Mathematics and 2 Sciences subjects, ie Physics, Chemistry or Biology and PASS in Bahasa Malaysia and English or other equivalent qualifications.

ii. Possess O level with a min CREDITS / GRADE C in 5 subjects including in Mathematics and 2 Sciences subjects and one other subjects as well as a PASS in English or any other qualification equivalent; or

iii. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least B GRADE in Mathematics and 2 Sciences subjects AND PASS in Bahasa Malaysia and English or any other qualification equivalent;

e) For students who will continue their studies to Engineering field:

i.Possess SPM with at least 5 CREDITS including in Mathematics and 1 Physical Science subject or other equivalent qualifications

ii. Possess O level with a min CREDITS / GRADE C in 5 subjects including in Mathematics Mathematics and 1 Physical Science subject or other equivalent qualifications or

iii. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least B GRADE in Mathematics and 1 Physical Science subject or other equivalent qualifications

f) For students who will continue their studies to Build Environment field:

i.Possess SPM with at least 5 CREDITS including Mathematics or other equivalent qualifications

ii. Possess O level with a min CREDITS / GRADE C in 5 subjects including Mathematics or other equivalent qualifications or

iii. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least B GRADE including Mathematics or other equivalent qualifications

g) For students who will continue their studies to Allied Health field:

i. Possess SPM with at least 5 CREDITS including any of the 3 subjects of the following:
• Biology
• Physics
• Mathematics
• Chemistry
• English
OR

ii. Possess O Level with at least 5 CREDITS/ GRADE C including any of the 3 subjects of the following:
• Biology
• Physics
• Mathematics
• Chemistry
• English

iii. Possess UEC with at least GRADE B including any of the 3 subjects of the following:
• Biology

English Competency Requirement for International students:
For international student: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 500 or International English Language Testing System (lELTS) of 5.0 or any other equivalent qualification for international student. If the student does not fulfill the above criteria, the Lincoln University College must offer English proficiency course to ensure that student is proficient in the language to the standard required for the program.

About The Program

We offer a Foundation in Science (ODL) (FIS) programme.
It is a one-year pre-university course, similar to STPM or Matriculation, designed to prepare students for entry into a bachelor’s degree.
The programme serves as a bridge between secondary school and university, equipping students with essential academic knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed at the undergraduate level. Students who complete the Foundation in Science (ODL) are prepared to pursue degree programmes in fields such as:

  • Engineering
  • Medicine
  • Sciences
 

The focus of the Foundation in Science (ODL) is to equip students with the academic knowledge and essential skills needed for success at the degree level.

Students will build a strong foundation in the Science field while also developing skills such as:

Admission

a) Medical: Passed SPM / SPVM / O-Level with a GRADE B in 5 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subjects as well as a CREDIT in Bahasa Malaysia and English or any other qualification equivalent thereto; or

b) Dentistry and Pharmacy: SPM / SPVM / O-Level with at least 5 CREDITS with a minimum grade B4 in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or technical subjects other and PASS in Bahasa Malaysia and English or other qualifications its equivalent; or

c) For students who will continue their studies Degree Program besides Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, O-level with MIN 5 CREDITS including Mathematics & 2 Sciences, ie Phyics, Chemistry, Biology subjects and Pass Bahasa Malaysia and English or equivalent,recognised by the Malaysian Government.

English Competency Requirement (International Student):
