The Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Honours) program of Lincoln University College allows the students with the opportunity to focus on the human body at the molecular, cellular and whole body levels. They will also acquire knowledge about the disciplines of biochemistry and cell biology, physiology, developmental biology, microbiology, pharmacology and neuroscience as well as advanced study in research. This course can be a gateway to working in many fields: education, research, sales, medical practice, hospital and institutional work. Biomedical sciences are the foundation of knowledge for all health care professionals.

Passed in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 credits including following subjects:

  • Physics with pass in biology or

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

GCE O Level or equivalent with a minimum of 5 credits in the following subjects:

1.TWO from Science or Mathematics subject (Biology/Chemistry/Physics/ General Science/Applied Sciences)

2.THREE from any other subjects

4.Malaysian citizen is required to pass in Bahasa Malaysia at SPM level for the purpose of registration with MAB.

5.Candidate with other relevant qualifications is subject to approval by the Medical Assistant Board (MAB)

International students must have proof of good proficiency in verbal and written English. For example, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 4.0 or its equivalent. If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPs must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.

Admission

What is the minimum number of subjects I need to pass for admission?

You need to have a minimum of FIVE (5) credits for admission. These credits should include Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia, Science subjects, Mathematics, and two other subjects, with preference for additional Science or Mathematics subjects.

What if I don’t have a credit in Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Malaysia?

Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia is a compulsory subject for Malaysian candidates. Failing to achieve a credit in this subject will disqualify you from meeting the minimum requirements for the program.

Are all Science subjects required?

No, only one Science subject is required. You can choose from Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. If you have a credit in Physics, you must have at least a pass in Biology. Alternatively, General Science is also acceptable.

Is it mandatory to take Additional Mathematics?

No, you can either take Mathematics or Additional Mathematics. You need to obtain at least a credit in either one of them.

Do I need to have a credit in English for admission?

A pass in English is required but not necessarily a credit for Malaysian candidates. However, having a credit in English could improve your chances of admission.

What if I am an international candidate? Do the requirements differ?

Yes, international candidates must have FIVE (5) credits in their GCE O-Level or equivalent. Two of these credits must be from Science or Mathematics subjects, and the other three from any other subjects. You also need to pass English.

What health conditions can disqualify me from being accepted into the program?

Candidates must be free from mental illness, physical or sensory disabilities, HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, epilepsy, drug addiction, and other conditions deemed unfit by a registered medical practitioner.

If I have a physical disability, can I still be accepted?

Unfortunately, candidates with physical and sensory disabilities may be disqualified if they are deemed medically unfit by a registered medical practitioner recognized by the Higher Education Providers (HEPs).

What happens if I have a medical condition not listed but might affect my ability to study?

Any other medical conditions that might impact your ability to participate in the program must be reviewed by a registered medical practitioner. If they certify you as unfit, you may be disqualified.

Is the medical certification mandatory before admission?

Yes, all students must be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner before being admitted to the program.

How can I know if my qualifications are recognized by Medical Assistant Board (MAB) Ministry of Health Malaysia?

If you possess qualifications other than those mentioned (such as international qualifications or health-related certificates), these will need to be reviewed and approved by the MAB (Malaysian Allied Health Board).

Can candidates with previous drug addiction apply?

No, candidates who have a history of drug addiction or substance abuse will not be accepted into the program.

How does the program verify my medical fitness?

You will need to undergo a medical check-up by a registered medical practitioner recognized by the recruiting institution. If they find any condition listed in the disqualification criteria, you may not be eligible to enroll.
