Programme Overview

Our program, Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (Honours) is designed for nurses interested in disease prevention and community and population health. The course aims to generate excellent nurses, who are fit for practice and competent to meet the essential needs of all patient categories. The students will experience a unified academic and professional training background structured to facilitate them to gain the knowledge, awareness, and skills to pursue and nurture a career in contemporary nursing training. The program is offered in Open and Distance Learning Mode (ODL).

Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (Honours) offers a range of advanced postgraduate courses in specialty areas, including:-

• The Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (Honours)(ODL) at LUC is a four-year programme that allows students to understand nursing practices and principles enabling them to advance in their healthcare careers.

• This programme contributes to nursing academic excellence through quality education that prepares resilient professional nurses who are critical thinkers, knowledgeable, skillful and practice soft skills in caring holistically to meet the every-changing challenges in a culture of evidence-based practice, which promotes more adaptable personality in their future workplace.

Admission

For Malaysian candidates:
Possesses:
1. Diploma in Nursing (Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF Level 4) or its Equivalent; and
2. Registered With the Malaysian Nursing Board; and
3. Possess Current Annual Practicing Certificate; and
4. Minimum 2 Years of clinical working experience

For international candidates:
Possesses:
1. Qualifications recognized as equivalent to Diploma in Nursing (Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF Level 4) by the Malaysian government
2. Student must be registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board; and
3. Possess current Annual Practicing Certificate; and
4. Minimum 2 Years of working experience.
5. IELTS with a minimum of 5.5/TOEFL with a minimum score of 515/215/80.
• Cambridge English Advanced (CAE)
• Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) Pearson Test of English

• A successful candidate for the Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (Honours)(ODL) programme is a highly self-motivated, autonomous and disciplined learner with a nursing background, strong communication skills, and commitment to professional growth.
• They are adaptable, technologically proficient, and capable of independent study while balancing academic, personal, and professional responsibilities effectively.
• They are working nurses with a minimum of 2 years of working experience.

Program Structure and Duration

• The programme is conducted for nine (9) long semesters in four (4) years but with credit transfer can complete in three (3) years.
• All candidates must be registered full-time with LUC. Candidates are required to do course work, attend practical only at the last semester, critique journals on research and produce a research project paper during this study period.

 

With credit transfer, students need to complete 137 credits, that consists of core sciences (120 credits) & elective / compulsory MQA (12 credits) and University Subjects (5 credits) subjects.

• The programme is conducted for nine (9) long semesters in four (4) years but with credit transfer can be completed in three (3) years.
