Programme Overview

The Post Graduate Diploma in Wound Care Management program at Lincoln University College aims to prepare healthcare practitioners to effectively handle complex wound healing management. The goal is to equip experienced, committed healthcare professionals with the required knowledge and abilities in wound healing and tissue restoration so that patients receive the best possible treatment. The curriculum is aimed to help health professionals improve their knowledge and skills in caring for patients with complex wounds, which is becoming more common. Students will learn specialized skills that will allow them to develop, implement, and evaluate wound care management programs.

Minimum Entry Requirement:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, or related fields or equivalent as accepted by Lincoln university college senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR
  2. A bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, or related fields or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00 not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the related field; OR
  3. Other qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government..

 

English Language Proficiency Requirements for International Students:

  1. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 or its equivalent.
  2. If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPS must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.

Graduates of the Post Graduate Diploma in Wound Care Management will gain a solid understanding of the pathophysiology of various wounds and appropriate care methods. They will learn to use different wound care products, manage risks, and provide effective patient care. This program aims to produce specialists and managers who are:

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in critical thinking, problem-solving, and addressing wound care issues using strong cognitive abilities.
  • Effective communicators, able to work methodically and responsibly within a healthcare team.
  • Competent leaders, with research and numerical skills relevant to wound care.
  • Entrepreneurial and socially responsible, with the ability to identify business opportunities and apply management and ethical values to support professional and social development in the wound care field.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Wound Care Management is a coursework-based programme. Graduation is awarded upon successful completion of all taught courses, prescribed assessments, and the capstone component within the approved study duration.

Academic Standing

Students must successfully complete all coursework modules and the capstone project, with no outstanding assessments, incomplete grades, or failed courses in their academic record at the time of graduation approval.

Endorsement by the School, Academic Committees, and approval by the Lincoln University College Senate

Graduation is awarded only upon successful completion of all prescribed formative and summative assessment components. Students must demonstrate satisfactory attainment of the Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs) in accordance with the approved assessment structure of the Post Graduate Diploma in Wound Care Management programme

What is the Postgraduate Diploma in Wound Care Management program about?

The Post Graduate Diploma in Wound Care Management is designed to equip healthcare practitioners with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective management of complex wound healing. This program focuses on enhancing the competencies of experienced healthcare professionals in wound healing and tissue restoration to ensure optimal patient care.

To equip healthcare professionals with advanced, evidence-based knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage a wide range of wounds. It encompasses assessment, physiology of wound heling, advanced wound care techniques, management of chronic and complex wounds and clinical decision making.

The curriculum is usually based on international guidelines (e.g., Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society, NICE guidelines, EWMA).

Prepares students to meet the standards of wound care used in various countries. The course is conducted fully in English language

Covers international legal and ethical standards in wound care and nursing/medical practice.

Teaches culturally sensitive approaches to patient care.

What are the minimum academic qualifications required for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma in Wound Care Management program?

A bachelor’s degree [(Level 6, Malaysian Qualification Framework, MQF)] in Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, or related fields or equivalent as accepted by Lincoln university college senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; or

It consists of 38 modules at 38 credit value. Full time – 1 year (3 Semesters) and Part time – 2 years (5 Semesters) It is delivered in hybrid mode. It involes theory and practical component. Continuous assessment -60% and Examination is 40%

Full time: Weekly timetable with 3 days of lecture
Part time: Weekly timetable with Saturdays lecture.
Practical Lab work is done weekly as required by the modules.
Examination: Physical – Saturday & Sunday
