Micro-Credential in Power Electronics
Programme Overview
Power Electronics circuits are an integral part of all electronics equipments. Power supply is the heart of all electronic circuits. In almost all cases this power requires conversion to the appropriate DC voltage by AC / DC converters. DC to DC converter and DC to AC inverters provide natural interface with direct energy sources such as solar cells and thermoelectric generator.
Commercial application of power electronics included industrial motor drives electrical vehicle power and drive systems.
The module’s rationale is to enable the students know and the new technologies and increase the efficiency on new switching devices, new circuit topologies, modern control techniques and new ways of manufacturing. This course introduces the multiple techniques of power conversion (DC/AC), (AC/DC) and Pulse Modulation. The application of power electronics in single and three phases are discussed.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course participants should be able to:
• Explain the different types of AC/DC, DC/AC and DC/DC converters.
