The profession of pharmacy plays a vital role in serving the health needs of the society. Pharmacists and pharmacist assistants are the most accessible members of the health care team for the public and are authorities on drugs and their use. They impart scientific knowledge related to the identification, formulation, preparation, standardization, quality control and use of drugs as well as medicines and effective management of their distribution and sale.

  1. Passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with three credits including Bahasa Malaysia, with one of the subjects of Science or Mathematics and other subjects and pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English or
  2. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a B grade in 3 subjects; or
  3. Pass the Certificate (Level 3 MOH) in the relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 2.0; or
  4. Other qualifications recognized by the Government of Malaysia.

Pharmacy, an important aspect of health profession concerned with knowledge about drugs and their effects, deals with chemical, physical, biological and behavioral sciences. It offers diverse opportunities in Malaysia as well as in other parts of the world. Pharmacists may practice in a community or hospitals, nursing homes or extended care facility, pharmaceutical industry,biotechnology industry and other private or public companies,government agencies,colleges and other organizations or institutions.

 About The Program

The Diploma in Pharmacy (ODL) is a three-year academic program designed to prepare students for a career in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Delivered through flexible online learning, it combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to train competent pharmacy assistants and support staff who can work in community pharmacies, hospitals, or the pharmaceutical industry.

Graduates with the certificate of “Diploma in pharmacy” can work as pharmacy assistants and with the skills acquired, they would be able to effectively manage the affairs of hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical industries, community pharmacy services, drug administration and other organizations that deal with drug research, marketing, sales and administration

 

Work as pharmacy technicians or assistants in hospitals and community pharmacies in countries that recognize equivalent qualifications.

The course educates students in various phases of pharmacy and makes them qualified to take numerous duties in the pharmaceutical sector. The groundwork in pharmacy sciences provides as a foundation for the advancement of various clinical skills in the regions of pharmacy that are patient oriented.

Most lecturers hold advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields.

At the Faculty of Pharmacy, the duration is 3 years for a Diploma. Our faculty maintains a 99% graduate-on-time rate, ensuring students complete their studies efficiently.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 90 credit hours to graduate from the Diploma in Pharmacy program.

The Diploma in Pharmacy (ODL) is typically a 3-year program designed to equip students with foundational knowledge, practical skills, and professional ethics for pharmacy practice. The program is delivered flexibly online with periodic practical training sessions.

Career Prospects

Work in hospitals, clinics, and community pharmacies assisting pharmacists with medication preparation, inventory, and counselling.

Academic

The ODL programme has two sessions: Synchronous (face-to-face) facilitation for about 6 weeks per semester, and Asynchronous, where LMS materials are uploaded and online discussions occur.

The lecturers provide Self Instructional Material (SIM), which is uploaded into the ODL system. All assessments are uploaded into the ODL system.

This programme has six long semesters and 3 years.

Students can access the system through our E-Portal named LUC moodle Software

The examination will be conducted online. Students need to follow all the procedures during the examination.
