Diploma In Hotel & Catering (PA 6782)

 

One of the most glamorous and exciting careers can be found in the hospitality industry . A very fast rate of increase in commercial activity and tourism has made a career in the hotel industry very lucrative and attractive. The mission of the Hotel & Catering Management Program is to provide training, skill development and education needed to prepare individuals for effective job performance in the hotel, catering, hospitality and entertainment industries.

This program trains you in all departments that are essential for the hotel industry. You become aware of the intricate principles involved in managing a hotel. Our goal is to provide students with a sound academic understanding of the hotel and catering industry. Together with the practical experience you will gain during the course, we believe this will allow you to play a full part in this exciting and fast-moving industry, giving you a fulfilling and rewarding career.

Objectives

  • To enable students to develop specific professional competencies appropriate to their specific career objectives.
  • To develop students understanding of tourism, its developments and impact on the economy in general.
  • To foster students understanding of the social trends in travel and management of hotels.
  • To enable students obtain an understanding of hotel and catering establishments and create awareness of their organisation, operations and management.
  • To provide first hand exposure to practical considerations involved in performing managerial tasks through course assignments relating to industry needs and to the student’s career objectives.
  • To provide courses, workshops and international experiences that will maximize curriculum quality.

Career Opportunities




In today's workplace, employers are looking for individuals who possess the ability to anticipate and exceed their customer's needs and deliver quality service as well as technical skills. The Hotel and Restaurant Management program provides the balance required to achieve this. Because it operates in an environment of continual change, graduates need to be equipped with the knowledge and skills that allow them to respond to such change.

Job titles include Front Office manager, Managing Director, Sales Executive, Human Resource Managers, Regional Director and a variety of Hotel executives, leisure and tourism consultants, restaurant and bar managers. Others have decided to work for themselves, running sandwich bars or specialist consultancies.

Your industry traineeship will enable you to understand the realities of the hotel and restaurant industry and to make an informed career choice before graduation.

During the traineeship, employers will be evaluating your performance against industry expectations, and will be assessing their interest in hiring you upon graduation. We have over 100 employers participating in our traineeship program, and they include major hotels, restaurants, catering operations, clubs and resorts in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding area.

Intakes - JANUARY, MAY, JULY & SEPTEMBER

Entry Requirements - SPM / UEC / O-Level or equivalent; with 3 credits in any subject

Duration - 28 months (7 semesters – 5 full semester / 2 short semester)
