Program Description
Physical therapy (or physiotherapy), often abbreviated PT, is a health care profession. PT is concerned with identifying and maximizing the quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment/intervention, and rehabilitation. This encompasses physical, psychological, emotional, and social well being. PT involves the interaction between physical therapists, patients/clients, other health professionals, families, care givers, and communities in a process where movement potential is assessed and diagnosed, goals are agreed upon, using knowledge and skills unique to PTs.
PTs use an individual's history and physical examination to arrive at a diagnosis and establish a management plan and, when necessary, incorporate the results of laboratory and imaging studies. PT management commonly includes prescription of or assistance with specific exercises, manual therapy, education, manipulation and other interventions. In addition, PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles, providing services to individuals and populations to develop maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan. This includes providing services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors. Functional movement is central to what it means to be healthy.
Program Benefits
3 years of Diploma in Physiotherapy programme will provide the students with all knowledge on how to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries related to physical therapy and perform an important function in looking after the well-being of the community. Thorough knowledge of diseases and their symptoms are required for diagnosis and treatment.
Physiotherapists do the clinical assessment of the patient before they make a diagnosis following SOAP NOTES recommended by Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, UK and American Physical Therapists Association. The training will involve both periods of theory and clinical experience gained by meeting and working with patients. During training the students may also get the chance to work with students from other disciplines. This is a beneficial foundation for the team building which will become an essential part of your working life.

The management of LUC is working on industrial placements for Physiotherapy students in their final year in Government Hospitals under the Ministry of Health and private hospitals, private centres and specialized centres to enhance our student’s practical skills.
• What is the medium of instruction?
English is the medium of instruction for the physiotherapy programme in LUC
• What sort of jobs/careers can be undertaken with this degree?
After completion of Diploma in Physiotherapy, students can start working as Physiotherapy Technicians or Physiotherapy Assistants or Physiotherapy Aids in Hospitals, clinics, Physiotherapy Centres and Rehabilitation Units.
• Who will award the degree?
The Diploma in Physiotherapy award is issued under the seal of Lincoln University College
• When do students get clinical exposure?
From semester 6 (six) until semester 9 (nine) students will be posted in various hospitals for clinical exposure. So the clinical exposure will be 4 semesters with duration of 12 months
• Is this program accredited?
Provisional Accreditation of Diploma in Physiotherapy is approved by MQA by PA 11020. The full accreditation for this programme will be done by the time the first batch of students graduate.
• What happens after I graduate?
After graduation, there are plenty of opportunities to either start working or further your studies. LUC is currently preparing basic steps to get approved to provide higher education through Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate level programmes in physiotherapy profession, thereby students have an opportunity to continue their higher studies with LUC.
• Does LUC provide scholarships?

• How many CGPA points do I need to continue degree level after my diploma?
Pass in Diploma in physiotherapy from institutions recognized by the Government of Malaysia and Pass in Malay/Bahasa Malaysia at SPM level/equivalent and Pass in English is the basic requirements to continue with degree level and further.
