Medical Assistants are healthcare professionals who contribute to the health of the nation in the delivery of healthcare services to the general population.Medical Assistants provide medical service in the hospitals (various disciplines such as Emergency department, Orthopedic department, Ophthalmology department (EYE) and many other specialist clinics) whereas in the public health sector, MA's actively participate and contribute to implement various health programs throughout the country.

Medical assistants also provide Emergency Medical care (pre-hospital care) before a patient arrives to a hospital/clinic.

Career Opportunities
Upon graduation there is a high demand for Medical Assistants to be employed in public and private hospitals, medical centres, healthcare institutions as well as in the plantation sectors (estate hospitals) and in the petroleum/gas sector (off-shore oil rig stations) and sport science units/clinics.

Duration: 3 (Three) Years. [Six (6) Semesters]

Year 1 - Semester 1 & 2

Year 2 - Semester 3 & 4

Year 3 - Semester 5 & 6

Semester 4, 5, 6 provides professional clinical training in government hospitals and health clinics to acquire and enhance clinical skills.

Credit Hour : 105 credit hours

Award : At the end of 3 years the successful student shall be awarded a Diploma in Medical Assistant by the Lincoln University College and be eligible for Registration (Act 180) by the Medical Assistants Board, Ministry of Health, Malaysia. Thereafter the Medical Assistant can seek employment to practice.

Intake : January, April, July & October

Entry requirements
- Pass in SPM or its equivalent with 5 (five) credits

- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia, Science (Biology) Or General Science, Mathematics

- Credits in any 2 (two) other subjects

- Pass in English (preference to be given to those with credit in English)
