Diploma in Nursing (A7151)
Diploma in Nursing is a three years program. It is open to those who have the desire to embrace a profession which is self-gratifying and humanistic. To meet the ever increasing demand for health care, the courses are designed to endow the graduates with adequate knowledge and skill which will enable them to function effectively as a Registered Nurse and member of health care team locally or globally.
This program focuses on the importance of an adult learner being critical and analytical to provide a safe, efficient and effective care to the clients. The core teaching content covers the health sciences, behavioral sciences and nursing sciences. Beside that, this program is also designed to further strengthen other important skill including interpersonal, team-working skills and self-directed learning. Lincoln University College believes in good clinical posting which will give maximum clinical exposure to all the graduates. This is confirmed by the consistent high achievement in Nursing Board Registration Examination.

Graduates with Diploma in Nursing will be able to provide nursing care to clients in hospitals, clinics, or any health care settings. As qualified Registered Nurses they are able to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the health-care needs of clients with different diseases and health problems. They will have the maturity to handle emergencies, save lives and become a team member in both diagnostic procedures and research. Thus, employment is not restricted to hospitals alone. They can seek employment in the army, police, fire brigade, airlines, nursing homes, nurseries, insurance companies and as industrial nurse.

1. 3 years fulltime study program.
2. 6 semesters: 2 semesters per year.
3. Total credit hours: 104 hours.
4. Theory: 56 credits.
5. Clinical posting: 34 credits.
6. Ministry of Higher Education compulsory subjects: 14 credits.

Program Assesment:
Evaluation system:
1. Continuous evaluation over 6 semesters.
2. Classroom 50% and clinical posting evaluation 50%.
3. Classroom 30% midterm and 70% final examination.
4. Clinical posting: Running assessment, clinical training performance, OCSE.
5. All students must achieve CGPA > 2.0 to be eligible for progression to next semester and to sit for Nursing Board Registration Examination.

Career Pathway:
Graduates of Diploma in Nursing can choose her pathway according to her /his interest. Pursue career to be in the clinical area as specialized nurse, become administrator or academicians. A nurse can also concentrate to be a researcher and involve in clinical research and development. Some might want to venture to be entrepreneurs to run their own businesses such as manage nurseries, nursing homes or rehabilitation centers.

Entry Requirements:
1. Age 18 to 40 years.
2. Male or Female.
3. Physically and mentally healthy, without physical defects.
Hepatitis – negative.
HIV – negative.
Certified medically fit by a medical doctor.
Academic requirement:
For Malaysians;
Pass SPM with 5 credits
Credits in mathematics and one science subject and 3 other subjects.
Must pass in English and Bahasa Melayu.
For international students:
Pass A level or O level or any equivalent to SPM 5 credits.
Credits in mathematics, one science subject and 3 other subjects.
Proficiency in English and able to understand and write in English.
Pass International English Language Testing services (IELTS) with a minimum of 5.5
OR
Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) with a minimum of 550.
OR
Pass in English (O-Level or equivalent to SPM 1119).

1. Is this program accreditated?
Yes, both by Ministry of Higher Education and Nursing Board of Malaysia., both by Ministry of Higher Education and Nursing Board of Malaysia.
2. Who are the teaching staffs?
The Lecturers and Clinical Instructors are experience nurses who are Registered Nurses, qualified with Diploma in Nursing, BSc in Nursing and some with Masters Degree. Periodically medical doctors, radiographers and qualified pharmacist will be invited as guest lecturers to enrich your knowledge and exposure.
3. Does LUC provide scholarship?
Study loans will be arranged from PTPTN for Malaysian students who fulfill the criteria.
4. What medium of instruction?
Teaching will be done in English. However international students need to learn communicating in Bahasa Melayu to prepare you for clinical posting whereby you need to speak in local dialect to your clients.
5. Where will be the clinical posting be?
The students will be posted to major government hospitals all over Malaysia.
6. Is hostel provided for the students?
Yes.
7. How do we travel to the hospitals?
Transport will be provided and some peripheral hostels are within walking distance to the hospitals.
8. Will LUC find a job for the graduates?
No. However, LUC will assist you searching for potential employment locally and overseas.
9. How many CGPA points do I need to continue degree level after my diploma?
You need to have at least 2.5 CGPA and three years experience working as Registered Nurse to qualify you to pursue your degree. LUC has its own post-graduate BSc. in nursing collaboration with University of Huddersfield UK. You are encouraged to come back to LUC to study your degree program.
